Joshua Borrill · Software and AI systems

I build software and AI systems that make complex work easier.

Workflow automation with human oversight, reproducible research tooling and mortgage decision support — built independently, and shaped by day-to-day work in regulated mortgage advice.

Flagship projects

Two working prototypes, shown with real captures from the applications. Each opens into the application itself.

AI Workflow Studio in its dark theme. A sidebar lists the workflow steps from Website enquiry to Reply queued, the canvas shows the connected step graph, and the right-hand panel shows a fixture run waiting for approval of a drafted reply to Priya Shah of Northwind Logistics.

Working prototype

AI Workflow Studio

Agentic workflows and automations.

Visual workflows that combine model steps, conditions and tools, with a person approving before anything is sent.

  • TypeScript
  • React
  • Tauri
  • OpenAI Agents SDK

A fixture run of the lead qualification workflow, paused at its approval step. Fixture runs replay recorded model and tool responses: no model was called and nothing was sent. Example-domain data; an earlier capture, not the latest build.

Quant Research Studio in its dark theme. An operator palette on the left; a strategy graph in the centre connecting a dataset to fast and slow EMAs, crossover signals, a long/flat position and a backtest; a run summary on the right with metrics and an equity chart.

Working prototype

Quant Research Studio

Visual strategy building and reproducible quantitative research.

Strategy graphs compile to deterministic Python, so each run can be traced to the exact code it executed.

  • Python
  • React
  • FastAPI
  • NautilusTrader

An EMA crossover strategy with a completed run on synthetic data. The figures describe a synthetic test, not investment performance. Capture of an earlier demo build; the current research interface differs.

Supporting work

Domain, client and education projects. Fuller write-ups will follow as their evidence is reviewed.

About

I’m a Senior Second Charge Mortgage Adviser at Fluent Money. Alongside that role I design and build software independently; the projects on this site are independent or client work, and none of them is deployed at Fluent.

At work I’ve contributed to process redesign, user acceptance testing, defect reporting and feedback on API integrations, and I act as a lender champion. Advising in a regulated setting shapes how I build: decisions should point to their sources, gaps should be visible rather than guessed, and a person stays accountable for what goes out.
